Winning Viral Reel Strategy: Use Your Client’s Words!

Instagram Tips, social media marketing

I know you’re exhausted from having to figure out what to post week after week. (side note: that’s why I created Reels Lab 😉)

But what if I told you your next viral post is already written… by your ideal clients? Their words = content gold.

Let’s break down my viral Reel strategy!

🧠 Market Research: Start With the Why Behind the Buy

First, it’s time for the foundational work: interviewing customers, reviewing testimonials, and understanding why people buy from you. Not just what they buy, but what it does for them

Once you have that, you can start creating content that doesn’t just show what you sell—it shows how it transforms lives. (And yes, even a necklace can be transformational. I’ll prove it.)

Now, let’s create some Reels!!

📱 Reel Prompt #1: “POV: You Found…”

This is one of my go-to Reels prompts because it centers the experience of your product or service. Let’s use the jewelry designer example from my recent Reels workshop:

Her customer said: “I bought this necklace and now my boyfriend and I have matching ones.”

Cute, right? But also powerful.

  • Film the necklaces up close, maybe on your fingers, in great lighting.
  • Overlay this text: “POV: You found a necklace so good, your boyfriend wanted one too. Now you’re accidentally matching.”
  • Add a trending audio (something light and sweet)
  • Caption: “Matching era: unlocked 💕 This is exactly what our recent customer said. Shop the set here.”

See how much more feeling that has vs. “Cute necklace available now”?

Hot tub company: “POV: You find a local hot tub installer who does it all—so you’re soaking under the stars a week later.”

Financial coach: “POV: You found a budget that finally helped you stop impulse spending.”

Online course: “POV: You found a course that actually made content creation feel easy.”

The key is to use your customers’ exact words or experiences, then wrap them up in a relatable story.

📱 Prompt #2: “Not to Be Dramatic, But…”

This one is playful, punchy, and crazy effective. Why? Because it’s dramatic in the best way.

Examples:

  • Baker: “Not to be dramatic, but these cookies might be the only reason my neighbors like me.”
  • Hot tub seller: *”Not to be dramatic, but this $10K hot tub saved our marriage.”

These work because they’re specific, emotional, and unexpected. And they only need B-roll + a single text box.

💻 How to Come Up With the Copy (Without Stressing)

  1. Look at your testimonials and reviews. Pull out phrases your customers say about how they felt, what changed for them, or why they chose you.

  2. Plug those phrases into one of the two prompts:
    • “POV you found ________”
    • “Not to be dramatic, but ________”

  3. Film 5-10 seconds of relevant B-roll. This can be:
    • Your product in use
    • A behind-the-scenes moment
    • A visual representation of the transformation

  4. Add a trending audio + short caption. And you’re done!!!

🔥 Why do Reels like this perform so well?!

Because they’re not random trends—they’re grounded in real human experiences.

The formula is simple:

→ Let your people tell the story

→ Choose a format that works

→ Keep it short, specific, and relatable

This is how you make content that actually converts.

By posting Reels like these, my Reel Lab students are seeing higher conversions and engagement! We’re talking millions of views, thousands of new followers, and actual sales!

TL;DR

Take what your customers are already saying and pair it with a viral-ready format. Use a little humor, a lot of empathy, and keep showing up.
