Have you ever thought about starting a new Instagram business profile (aka account)?
Maybe you’ve pivoted services or products, have a whole new ideal client you’re trying to attract or maybe the old account grew stale.
Whatever the case, it’s easy to overthink how to start a new Instagram account, but I’m going to break it down for you!
So, whether you want to start from scratch or give your current account a little refresh, keep reading for tips to optimize your Instagram account for 2025.

❤️ Audit the accounts you love.
Before you start writing any content or creating a bio, think about 3–5 people or brands on Instagram you’ve:
- Bought from
- Hired after seeing their content
- Sent to a friend and said, “You have to follow this account!”
Now ask yourself: Why?
What made their Instagram content resonate with you? Was it their humor? Their helpful tips? Their storytelling?
This is the same kind of connection your dream audience is looking for.
💡Wondering how to get more followers on Instagram? Reflect on why people should follow and buy from you.
Here are 2 questions that you should ask yourself:
- Why would someone follow your Instagram account?
- Why would someone buy from you?
Psst, you can use ChatGPT to help you with this!
Because here’s the truth: people don’t follow a realtor just because they sell houses. They’re following them because they’re sharing the best places to eat around your area. They share the coolest updates and know everything about the area that you’re living (or want to) in.
Same with graphic designers, candle shops, course creators… people want connection. Period.
But also, your content needs to be fun for you to create, something that lights you up!
The reason content creation is so easy for me is because I share tips that either just came up in a coaching call, something that someone just asked me, or I’m repurposing something, or it’s a topic I’m super stoked to talk about.
This is why I love using the 4H Method to keep my content fun and still valuable. But at the end of the day, I know people don’t just follow me for my Instagram tips. It’s because I share tips from a place that isn’t going to burn you out.
🤩 Write a clear Instagram bio that connects
I know it’s tempting to be whitty or have cutes-y bio, but you need it to be crystal clear so that when someone new hops over, they know exactly who you are and what you do.
Easy Instagram Business Profile Bio Layout:
- Line 1: What you do, what people get from your account + services
- Line 2: Credentials, location, or a subtitle from your line 1
- Line 3: A CTA—what you want them to click
Example:
- Helping you grow and sell on Instagram
- Based in North Carolina 📍

Name Field:
Your name field should be something someone would search for in Google or a search bar: brand designer, social media manager, New Orleans photographer, etc.
Instagram’s SEO is getting better and better, so take advantage of this field to get found!
📌 Post 3 pinned Instagram posts that tell your story
Pinned posts are the first posts people are going to see on your grid; think of them as website tabs. At the top of most websites, you’ll see “about me,” “services,” and usually something like a blog, events, or other highlighted resource.
In the same way, your 3 pinned posts on your grid should:
- Introduce You – A Reel or carousel sharing your story
- Convert – A post that talks about your offer or shows social proof
- Connect – A piece of content that gets people commenting or clicking

📱 Don’t forget Instagram Stories
Stories are where the magic happens. That’s where people get to know you, hear your voice, and start to trust you.
Use stories to:
- Show behind-the-scenes content
- Share tips
- Talk about your offers casually
Even a quick 3-second boomerang with a caption like “DM me the word REELS for the guide” can convert.
🤗 Remember, Instagram is a social platform, so don’t be shy.
Want more visibility? Engage with other creators and small business owners. Leave thoughtful comments. Be a real human.
Instagram rewards interaction.
And don’t take it too seriously, have fun!
